Clock Building - the Last Round

Divya, one of the girls who is involved in the clock-building, tells us her experience:

When I was told that the publicity team would be making a clock that’d be put up in the central forum, the first thing that came to my mind was “What??? How exactly are we going to make a clock?”.

I had doubts like “Are we going to just paint a big poster kind which would look like a clock or are we really going to do carpentry work and make a real one?”.

Well the answer to it was quite obvious…We had to make a real one...As in using wood and saw…And cutting them with proper measurements and stuff.

The first day we just cut out different lengths of wooden pieces to make the clock stand on it..It was fun… That was the first day I ever used a saw in my life and though it was kind of weird…I don’t think I’d have an opportunity to use a saw in my life.

The second day we just painted the clock. We had to redo the sketching many times, well it was to make it look better of course...But yeah we did have fun doing it... A very good experience on the whole.

ps: To have a look at the finished product, just go down to the Central Forum

The grandfather Clock

Building this marvel of mechanical engineering was extremely taxing even for such a trim individual as myself. It's only natural to expect that such a feat of architecture would require some level of grunt work but I don't think any of us who turned up expected the slavish hacking of wood and careful attention to detail that this activity entailed. Not unlike the builders of the Taj Mahal I expect. If the Taj Mahal had been made of wood. And looked like a giant clock. And also our arms are still attached to elbows. But that's all. Everything considered, it was pretty fun, and clearly, as I think the photos will evidence, none of us is averse to intense physical activity. If we weren't so well suited for this university thing some of us (chiefly me) could probably have reasonably successful careers as woodsmen/women, or, alternatively, models.

I'm not crazy I'm just a little unwell

Hi. I've never blogged before so I'd like to take this opportunity to blame my lack of experience for anything wrong I might do now or in the future. Thank you for your consideration, and have a nice day.
